Our SME Business Team is ready to help you trade larger risks, or if you need a bespoke solution to meet specific customer requirements.
Wholly unoccupied or mainly unoccupied properties aren't accepted at new business. A small element of the property can be unoccupied at inception, but this must not exceed 20% of the overall property.
We provide 45 days full cover from the first date of unoccupancy so you don't have to amend the system until the expiry of this period. Once unoccupancy has passed 45 days, you need to update the system and it'll be referred to an underwriter to review. We'll need to know when the property became unoccupied and what the client’s intentions are. For example, if your client is planning to re-let or sell the property. We'll also need to know if there's any work being carried out to the property and what that entails. Please ensure the insured can comply with the Empty buildings condition within the policy wording and is aware of the restricted cover which states the precautions that must be taken.
Yes, our policy does include Malicious Damage by tenant up to £5,000 in any one period of insurance. You can find details in our Policy Wording which outlines conditions applied.
We can accept flat roofs depending on the construction. We'll accept felt on timber roofing but we have stricter acceptance rules where there are elements of fibreglass and plastic. Care must be taken to select the most appropriate roof construction types and percentage amounts from the list of available options where the roof material is anything other than slate, tile or concrete. There's no need to record that the roof is flat within your answers, but please highlight the flat roof condition to your client which can be found in the policy wording here.
There's no need to add an interested party to the policy. To make it easier for your customer we've included this automatically. Please refer to the Interested Party condition within the Policy Wording here.

Digital policies are set to run for 12 months, and therefore the end term dates can't be amended.
We're able to accept any of the following wall constructions: Brick, Concrete, Metal, Glass, Slate, Stone or Tile.
In order to process a cancellation, please email us at onlinetradingcentre@axa-insurance.co.uk with the policy number, client’s name and reason for cancellation. Within 5 working days you'll receive a cancellation letter detailing the return premium. If you require the details immediately contact our underwriters on 0800 051 8001 or via live chat.
We regularly review our pricing models to ensure our premiums remain competitive. We may be willing to negotiate some premium movement on larger cases where the risk has run well. Please contact our underwriters in our self serve online team by calling 0800 051 8001 or using live chat.
Up to 10 locations can be accepted per policy. If your client wants to insure more than 10 locations on one policy, it is not suitable for our digital policy. Please email the details to axantc2.ins@axa-insurance.co.uk so we can consider a manual quotation.
We're no longer accepting new business or renewals for blocks of flats on our digital Landlords product. Property types impacted by this change are Flats (Converted), Flats (Purpose Built), Multiple Flats (Converted House) and Multiple flats (Purpose built). These risks can still be considered by our underwriters for a manual quotation. Please email the details to axantc2.ins@axa-insurance.co.uk.
We output the premium splits per property on your customer’s Quote Summary and Schedule documents.
Students are a decline. If the client’s property is occupied by their family member, a tenancy agreement is not compulsory, but there are some sections of cover in the policy wording which require a tenancy agreement to be in place such as Illegal cultivation of drugs; Malicious damage and theft by tenant; and Legal expenses. For clarification on tenant types please check the resident type in guidance document on this page. Select the correct tenant type in the system and the correct underwriting decision will be applied. If you still need guidance, please chat with our SME digital underwriters.
We’re able to consider risks where the bankruptcy or insolvency has been discharged for 5 years or more, depending on the individual circumstances. You can discuss this with one of our underwriters by contacting our self serve online team on 0800 051 8001 or via live chat.
Digital policies can't be reinstated. If you've not renewed the policy then a new policy will have to be incepted from today at current rates and acceptance criteria. If you're looking for us to backdate cover, we'll need you to create a new quote effective from today and send proof the client had wanted to go ahead, proof of payment and confirm there has been no claims/incidents from renewal to now. You can email us or contact our underwriters on 0800 051 8001 to discuss agreement of the change in inception date on the replacement policy.
Our Instalments team will be able to confirm if an instalment is in place for the policy. You can access their contact details here.
If you don’t accept the policy renewal online ahead of its expiry date, the policy won't automatically renew and will lapse, which may leave your clients without cover.
If you have a question, need support or want a fast decision on a referral, contact the Self-Serve Online team and we’ll do our best to help.
